TRAVEL HEALTH: STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY ON YOUR TRIP

YOUR HEALTH AND TRAVELING: WHY YOU NEED A PLAN

We are excited to see the world. We spend hours planning on where to go, what to see, and what to pack, yet few travelers adequately plan for the health risks of traveling. Risks of travel include environmental risks (heat, cold, dehydration, altitude, falls, drowning, storms, sunburns, insects), infections (viruses, parasites, bacteria, fungus), and legal requirements to travel (some countries *require* certain vaccines to enter). The good news is that Code 3 Urgent Care can help you get ready for your trip even if you are about to board your flight with a travel health consult inside DFW Airport.

VACCINATIONS

Your first line of defense against serious infections is avoidance. Clean drinking water, cooked food and safe handling, and avoidance of insect bites reduces your chances of becoming ill. Vaccinations are a powerful second line of defense in preventing becoming ill during your travels. Some vaccines provide immunity after just a single dose, however some vaccines may require repeated doses or occasional booster doses to remain effective. We offer the following vaccinations:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • TwinRx (combination Hepatitis A and B)
  • Tetanus
  • Diptheria
  • Pertusis
  • Typhoid
  • Influenza

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Mosquito / Insect Repellents

We also provide FDA-approved DEET and natural Picardin insect repellents to protect you from serious mosquito-borne illnesses including Zika, Chikungunya, Malaria, Dengue, Yellow Fever, and more. Our insect repellents are provided in TSA-allowed travel sizes for your convenience.

Sun Protection

Sunburns aren’t just an inconvenience; Sunburns can permanently damage your skin, accelerate skin aging, and lead to cancer. We offer several high SPF sunscreens including kid-friendly formulations.

Wound Treatment / Protection

We have everything you may need in a minor care travel kit to take care of minor injuries and wounds including bandages, anti-histamines, pain relievers, and more!
