Born, raised and schooled in Puerto Rico, Dr. Muniz spent a lot of time being a tutor for other students and an active member of the medical class directive and different associations as well as an active Eagle Scout Leader. He initially landed in Dallas in 2007 after graduating from Med School to start training in Internal Medicine. After realizing that Emergency Medicine was his passion, in 2009 he started the Emergency Medicine residency at UTSW / Parkland Hospital. Before completing residency in 2012, Dr. Muniz had the opportunity to do some humanitarian and medical missionary work in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. Afterward, he worked primarily at one of the few Level 1 Trauma centers in DFW for five years. While still working at the big, busy, hectic hospital, Dr. Muniz joined Code 3 Emergency Physicians to work at Free-Standing Emergency Rooms in the area, where he became Medical Director. Since joining Code 3 Emergency Physicians, Dr. Muniz has been part of the development team of multiple Code 3 Free Standing Emergency Centers, became a founding partner of Code 3 Emergency Partners, LLC, and currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of Code 3 Emergency Physicians, PA and Chief of Physician Relations of Code 3 Emergency Partners, LLC. Dr. Muniz is responsible for physician and staff recruitment efforts, scheduling, and facility equipment and supplies. When he isn’t locked inside the ER, he spends his time reading a good history book with a glass of wine, pretending to learn new languages, and trying to burn the extreme amount of calories ingested from the exquisite TEX-MEX cuisine.
